AffiliateWP – Payout Statements version 1.2 is now available. This release finally brings a long awaited and often requested feature: Tax handling for payout statements. These enhancements will significantly reduce the administrative burden for affiliate program administrators, but also for affiliates.
Tax / VAT handling for payout statements
With this release, we are happy to announce that we introduce TAX / VAT handling for payout statements. This is one of our most wished and long-awaited features since the original release of our AffiliateWP add-on. Below we will point out some of the most important additions to the plugin.
Tax number and country
Both, the store owner and the affiliate, can select the country their business is registered in. In addition, both can enter their tax number. The submission of this information can be made voluntary or mandatory via the plugin settings.
EU VAT ID and VIS validation
A two-stage validation system is available for companies within the EU:
Basically, all entered VAT IDs will be technically checked whether they are EU VAT IDs and whether the given ID matches the country that was selected.
Furthermore, a validation can be performed via the official VIES service. The last mentioned is optional and can be activated or deactivated via the plugin settings.
Tax rates
As a store owner, you can either define a default tax rate (e.g. 19%) or allow your affiliates to enter their tax rate. The submission of this information can be made voluntary or mandatory via the plugin settings.
EU VAT Reverse Charge
The plugin automatically checks, whether EU VAT Reverse Charge can be applied. If so, it shows 0% tax and prints a “Reverse Charge” note at the end of the document.
Payout statement documents showing tax
Finally, here’s the most important part of this update: According to your settings and the given information about your affiliate (country, tax number and rate), our statements show the tax rate and sum which is included in the final payout amount.
